Mercury MerCruiser offers a range of gasoline engines with both angled tilt speakers (Sterndrives) and reverse gearboxes (Inboards) with high performance from 135 to 425 hp.
All carburetor engines for convenience are equipped with an exclusive launch system TKS. You do not need any suction, no swap, no pre-fill fuel. Just turn the key in the ignition and the engine is running. All engines with a multipoint fuel injection system (MPI) are equipped with an ECM 555 electronic control unit developed by Motorola. Engines with multipoint fuel injection are equipped with SmartCraft measurement and control system, which provides control of engine operating conditions and onboard equipment of the vessel.
MerCruiser together with Cummins produces diesel engines under the Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) brand. Diesel engines can also be used with turntables (Sterndrives), as well as in the tails (Inboards).

Hi there,
I have a problem on my Mercury 2003 40 HP elpto ot638252. I had a new floor put in my pontoon and I think there is a problem with the throttle linkage. Since they had to remove all the wiring and linkage to put in the new floor. I think maybe the problem is with the linkage not moving centering into neutral. My motor will not start and I think it has to do with a clip that may have fallen off the throttle linkage on the control handle or the motor itself. . I have the clip but I don't know whether it goes on the linkage in the motor or if it is supposed to go on the speed control handle control. If you could lead me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. I can send a pic of the clip and the instructions attached to it.

The local dealer in CAIRNS Australia, is not co-operating, and we need to find an oil leak under the motor.
We have reported the dealer before for poor service.

I have a 1993 260hp 5.7 mercruiser . I have replaced the fuel line filter and the fuel pump, but my problem still exist. under load at 3000 rpm the engine backs off and acts like it wants to quite, but it doesn't just slows down. all fresh fuel, and oil change with filter. Could this be a ignition problem as it hard starting and sometimes backfire! can you help me?
