Bavaria Yachts was founded in 1978 by the owner of the Winfried Hermann plastic window factory. As a yachtsman, he decided to re-equip the factory and launch the production of sailing cruise yachts at low prices. He liked the idea of making yachts more affordable. The plant began work with the release of 7 and 8-meter boats, and this was the first company in Germany to put the production of yachts on stream.

In 2001, Bavaria Yachts began producing motor yachts, and they also quickly gained popularity, which grew thanks to a winning price / quality ratio. All this has made Bavaria Yachts a national brand.

The flip side of the budget price tag and short production cycle is a simple design, inexpensive materials, build quality corresponding to mass production, and relatively modest driving characteristics.

The company produces a large line of fiberglass cruising sailing yachts from 30 to 65 feet, all of them have a traditional layout with a cockpit in the stern. The motor range includes several 33–55-foot yacht families. These are high-speed gliding cruisers made of fiberglass composite with and without flybridge, as well as open high-speed yachts of a relatively low price category.

In 2014, Bavaria acquired Nautitech, a manufacturer of catamarans from 40 to 54 feet.
