History of the company

The brand’s history began in the 1970s when California racer Larry Smith designed a deep V hull boat named Scarab. On his boat, the Scarab 29 Smith won several offshore races in 1974. Thinking about the prospects of his brainchild and wanting to accelerate its development, Smith turned to Wellcraft, which at that time had been producing cruise speed boats for more than 20 years. So there was a new Wellcraft Scarab line in which the latest technologies and materials were applied at that time, in particular, Kevlar.

In 1977, Betty Cook at the Wellcraft Scarab 38 won the World Cup. Subsequently, Scarab six more times won the World Championships in different classes. Michael Reagan, son of the 40th president of the United States, also chased Scarab boats.

In 1984, Wellcraft became part of the holding company Genmar Industries. And in 1985, Wellcraft Scarab gained worldwide popularity thanks to the television series Miami Vice, where the main character chased criminals on the Scarab 38 KV. Participation in the series spurred brand sales by 21%.

Following the release of the series, Don Johnson designed his own exclusive Scarab Excel 43 series, Don Johnson Signature. The model was equipped with two 650-horsepower Lamborghini engines and cost more than $ 300 thousand.

In 2009, after the bankruptcy of Genmar Holdings, its assets and several brands, including Scarab, were sold to the Californian Platinum Equity Group for $ 70 million, and five years later, the French Beneteau Group bought the four brands belonging to the latter Four Winns, Glastron, Wellcraft and Scarab.

The lineup

Scarab Jet Boats launches 16–26-foot water-jet and speedboats for recreational activities in water and sports. To select their boat option, the client can use the configurator, which is on the company's website. You can order a trailer for each model.

Today, the concept of the Scarab brand is somewhat different from what it was in the 80s. Scarab Jet Boats are positioned as universal boats for outdoor activities. The complete set of boats with water cannons not only ensures high maneuverability, but also expands the boundaries of safety. The shipyard also provides a lifetime warranty on the structural components of the hulls.
